A big lesson that I’ve learned from my parents is how to be compassionate and generous. My father is generous to a fault and my mother would sometimes get annoyed because he would just do too much. I’m a lot like my father and over the years the thing I’m trying to learn is how to stay balanced in everything I do. When I like someone or a care for someone, I go all out and many a time that has come back to haunt me. It’s a tough thing to learn how to control your emotions or when to draw the line. I think the most important thing I’ve realised is how to put yourself first in a situation AND that it’s okay to look out for yourself before anyone else. Having said that, I also know what it’s like to feel absolutely helpless and not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Going through tough financial times is not easy and I’ve been there many times in my life. When my editor sent me a facebook post of the NGO Save our Strays I don’t know why it pulled my heartstrings. I was overcome with emotion and truly wanted to help. Chinmayee (my editor) has been working with SOS for over a decade and vouches for them. She’s fostered many dogs and cats and always knows that she can count on SOS for support.
I’ve started a crowdfunding campaign for them and you can contribute any amount here – https://www.ketto.org/fundraiser/poojaforsos. This money will help them stay afloat and carry on doing the incredible work they do for our city’s dogs and cats.
If you’ve ever been in a situation where you really needed help and remember what that felt like – this is like that for SOS and we can help in our own little way!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart <3
