Hi, I’m Riya Bafna and I work as a Graphic Designer at Le15, so if you’ve ever loved, laughed at or disliked a Le15 instagram post, that’d probably be on me!
So, in this blog I’ll talk about how difficult it is to be loyal/partial to any colour. We have different colours for different moods and seasons. Colours always do something. Sometimes they hide behind the bars, sometimes they overpower others, sometimes they’re quiet, sometimes they scream out a message, sometimes they cast a spell, I can go on and on.
Being a Designer, I have been attracted to various colours, seasonally and periodically. This has indirectly affected a lot of my work in a good way (most of the time). Here are some tiny notes for all the colours I’ve loved before.
To Red
I chose you when Santa came dressed in red, it all started with Christmas. The songs, the decoration, the plums, the cherries, the wine, the berries; it all made sense. But after a couple of days, I got a signal which said stop. I spotted danger in red and I knew it was the end.

To Yellow
I chose you when the bright sun was on my face during a hot summer morning. You came in mangoes and in jackfruits. You decided to win me over with CSK (Chennai Super Kings – the IPL Team), but you failed. You tried again! You pleased me with those pretty sunflowers I saw in the market. You almost had me when I played ‘Yellow by Coldplay’ on repeat. But after a couple of weeks, mangoes were hard to find and it began to rain. I couldn’t see the sun shine bright with love in it’s eyes.
To Black
You gave me space when I looked at the night sky. You helped me look thin when I was not confident. My kohled eyes seemed brighter than the stars. But after a couple of weeks, you became negative and it started suffocating. I felt like I was colour blind when I looked into your eyes.
To Pink
I did not find you cute like every other teenager did. I did not have pink walls and strawberry printed blankets. But one day, when I collected all my watercolour sheets, I found your pastel shade. You came in my life an existing surprise, which I always chose to ignore. It was a bliss when I found you hide in the sky merging with different colours. I started liking strawberries, I wore a lot of pink. But after a couple of months, I got down the memory lane. You were not something I wanted,I began to think.
To Green
It was a breezy Sunday evening when I was strolling in the streets. I went to the market and picked all the greens. You surprised me with the shades and impact you have made. You were pure as nature and calm as trees. You behaved like a mother and helped humans breathe. But after a couple of years, you were no longer seen. Your presence made me happy but your existence was at risk. It was so toxic that I couldn’t help. It was over!
I have had a lot of experiences with different colours, for every occasion, for every mood, for every feel and for every manner. This is how I express myself. How do you express yourself? Please leave a comment below 🙂
